Background

As the lead designer on this project, I was tasked with auditing and redesigning the enterprise mobility management platform, TELUS IQ. With a growing user base, the client approached us looking to refresh the look of the platform to match the TELUS Design System, while reworking the core user flows to create a more effective user experience.

The key challenges I was asked to address in this experience redesign are:

A data-dense table from the TELUS IQ project
Due to the data heavy nature of the application and the behaviour of the users, I designed the experiences for desktop and tablet.

Wireframing + Design

We worked closely with the team to analyze how their products were being used and what we could do to streamline and simplify the journey between the flows. We were able to address many of the key pain points from their core user base, including more efficient bulk ordering and asset management, all while simplifying the experience to provide the user a clear path to completion for each key action.

Based on discovery sessions for each of the key functions of this application, I created a series of high fidelity wireframes for each user journey for purchasing, bulk management, import and analysis within the portal.

After further refinement of both the user experience and a deeper understanding of dependencies and technical limitations. I created designs from the approved wireframes, while working closely with the development team to identify the technical specifications and variations of all of the components I was using.

Component Library

Because this redesign was being applied to a living product, we created and delivered a front end component library that allowed the client to use these components as building blocks to create future user flows and adapt based on changing requirements.

All pages layouts were broken into components to allow the easy reuse and maintenance of the system, as experiences evolved.

Outcome

Based on site analytics and user feedback, the new interface provided large benefits to their key customers, allowing them to add and manage mobility accounts on a large scale with improved efficiency.
